’13 Reasons Why’ is breaking the internet with its outstanding performance on Netflix. I knew that Selena Gomez was the executive producer of the film and I loved her work which is the sole purpose of why I started watching it. Even though I didn’t think the show was my interest in genre, I still wanted to see it. After the first couple of episodes, I knew that this wasn’t any other teenage drama series. This film told stories that were raw, honest, and brutal. Some parts are a lot to take in, were traumatizing, and were not easy to watch. And that’s what made this show different. I personally think that “13 reasons why” is by far one of the most honest films in our society today because it opens up issues that people are afraid to talk about.   The thing that stuck out to me the most about this film was that the writers didn’t hold back one bit. The story kept getting darker and darker until you felt as broken as the characters in the film. You felt their pain while learning about each individual and their struggles. I thought it was original that the film showed everything and didn’t hide the… View Post

At first, I was excited to tell everyone my future plans and dreams, but when I received a heartbreaking response, I had become utterly discouraged. It’s hard to believe in yourself when your loved ones don’t. Chasing my dreams feels liberating because I’m finally doing what I want to do but it can also be very difficult when explaining those dreams to others especially when people are so quick to discourage. It can make you feel very lonely when no one supports you or sees your vision. You at least expect your loved ones to support you wholeheartedly but find the complete opposite which can be disheartening and very lonesome. Which is why I organized a list of things that have helped me thus far of what to remember & tell yourself while no one supports your dreams. Live Life With No Regrets You have to keep asking yourself if your choice will leave you happy or regretful in the future. Deep down in our hearts, we all know what will make us happy so why are we choosing to listen to other people’s… View Post

I think we can all agree that Valentine’s Day is the most pointless holiday there is, unless you’re in a relationship of course. Before I tell you the many things you can do as a single person on Valentine’s Day, let me first explain my opinion regarding this “special” holiday. First of all, I think that everyday should be like Valentine’s Day with your boyfriend/girlfriend or significant other. And this day should be treated just like any other day. This day just makes us single people feel more lonely than we did before. It’s Valentine’s Day that makes me want to hangout with my friends but wait, they’re too busy hanging out with their boyfriends so, yay.  And I’m not just saying this because I’m single. Okay, maybe I am but that’s beside the point. Now that we got that rant out of the way, let’s dive into what you can do as a single person on Valentine’s Day (things I do on this specific day). Treat yourself. If you don’t have someone to give you chocolates and roses, than buy yourself them. Yes, it may seem a little weird and extremely awkward, but why the heck not? If you’re sad because… View Post

New Year’s Day is approaching us this week. I better start setting goals for the upcoming year. Wait.. have I even fulfilled any of my resolutions from last year? I remember always having to tell my friends that my New Year’s Resolution was to follow the same resolutions and goals that I set the previous year because I never accomplished them! Most of us are guilty of making a New Year’s Resolution and giving up within the first month.  And if you’re like me, you never even try taking the first step. What if I told you that setting a New Year’s Resolution was a mistake to begin with? Why are you waiting until next year to start a new goal for yourself? Why can’t you just start now. Same thing goes for setting a goal for your tomorrow. Why can’t you just start today? If you want a goal that you will honestly be committed to fulfilling, then set it for today. (Bad Example, Exhibit A: Camelia Katoozian) There have been so many times that I told myself that I would go to the gym tomorrow, when in reality I chose to lay in bed and watch Netflix. If I had chosen to go for a run that… View Post

Let’s be honest, it’s the holidays that make us “single people” feel the most lonely. While everyone else are in relationships, were not and that can feel really “sucky” at times. I can’t think of any other word to describe how I personally feel than to use “sucky”. Is that even a word? Okay, moving on. Being single can honestly suck sometimes but can suck even more during the holidays because I feel like it’s a great opportunity to post their romantic and cute santa pictures on facebook while the single people stand behind their computer screen watching all the pictures come in through their news feed.  Being the “forever alone”/single AF person that I am, I know how it’s like to deal with being single during the holidays since they can make us all feel a little extra lonely and single if you know what I mean. Here are some of my ways of how I cope with being single during the holidays: Treat Yourself. Buy yourself presents and I know that sounds weird because in my head it sounds like a psychotic person going on a shopping spree, wrapping the presents, and then opening them while crying about how lonely they are. That’s not what I… View Post
