What To Do On Valentine’s Day When You’re SINGLE AF

I think we can all agree that Valentine’s Day is the most pointless holiday there is, unless you’re in a relationship of course.

Before I tell you the many things you can do as a single person on Valentine’s Day, let me first explain my opinion regarding this “special” holiday.

First of all, I think that everyday should be like Valentine’s Day with your boyfriend/girlfriend or significant other. And this day should be treated just like any other day. This day just makes us single people feel more lonely than we did before. It’s Valentine’s Day that makes me want to hangout with my friends but wait, they’re too busy hanging out with their boyfriends so, yay.

And I’m not just saying this because I’m single. Okay, maybe I am but that’s beside the point.

Now that we got that rant out of the way, let’s dive into what you can do as a single person on Valentine’s Day (things I do on this specific day).

  1. Treat yourself. If you don’t have someone to give you chocolates and roses, than buy yourself them. Yes, it may seem a little weird and extremely awkward, but why the heck not? If you’re sad because you didn’t get any gifts and junk food, then treat yourself to some goodies if that’s what’s bothering you the most. You can also save some money to go on a shopping spree at Sephora, and don’t be surprised if you see me there too.
  2. Have a night out with your single friends. Unless all your friends are in a relationship, hangout with me or continue reading.
  3. Go out by/with yourself. I went to the movies by myself the other day and, was it awkward? Heck yeah! Especially because I wasn’t aware that each ticket had a specific seat number. So a cute couple came and told me that I was sitting in their spot. They kindly told me to stay seated while they sat right next to me, cuddling each other, kissing, and overall being cute just like every goddamn couple is. For some reason, I still felt like I was third wheeling on their date even though I didn’t know these people. But besides that, it was a fun time going out by myself. And the movies are perceived as a social gathering when there’s no sort of social interaction during the movie, therefore it’s completely okay to go to the movies alone. My brother made fun of me for going alone, but did I care? Of course not! Well, okay to be honest, I kind of cared at first, but overall, I had a good time so who cares what people think about it.
  4. Netflix & chill (literally) by yourself! But some jimmy johns for yourself and binge watch the Harry Potter series or some comedic movies. Try to stay away from the romance genre (obviously).
  5. Hangout with your family! Thankfully my parents aren’t the type of people to go all out on Valentine’s Day, in fact, I don’t even think they acknowledge or realize it’s Valentine’s Day until I tell them. It’s nice to order some pizza and have a movie night with the fam. Those are my favorite types of night’s.

I hope that this has helped you feel less lonely and more happy for this Valentine’s Day. Be sure to watch my video on “What To Do On Valentine’s Day When You’re Single AF” right here.
