How To Fix Damaged Hair Fast! (5 Steps To Long & Healthy Hair)

Do you have damaged hair? Have you bleached your hair more than once or twenty times? Does your hair feel/look dry & dead? Is your hair even growing? Or does it seem like your hair stopped growing?! Well we need to fix all of these problems asap! I have contributed a list of 5 steps on how to fix damaged hair fast! I think every single one of these steps are important and if you do commit and follow along with all these 5 steps, then you will have long & healthy hair faster than you think!

Step 1: It’s time for a trim! Unfortunately, you can’t run away or skip this step. It’s #1 for a reason because it’s the most important part of regaining healthy hair! So I would highly advise you to cut off those split ends. But if you skip this step, your split ends are going travel throughout your hair and towards your scalp. This will damage your hair more than before and will cause thinning & excessive hair fall. That is obviously the last thing you want so GET. A. TRIM.

If you go to the salon, (If you have REALLY DAMAGED HAIR) they’re going to advise to cut off 4 inches. You don’t need to cut off 4 inches so push them to cut off only 2 inches. Bonus: Apply an egg hair mask to grow your hair faster within a day to a week to regain your previous hair length! Read my previous blog post on how to create one of the strongest hair growth remedies!

Step 2: QUIT the heat & chemicals! I can already see everyone reading through this and just hating me. First a trim, and now giving up my straightener? Heck no! Yes, I know the struggle of quitting the heat. Little back story: I used to straighten my hair everyday and if I didn’t use the straightener, my hair would look frizzy, damaged, and just horrible. Which meant that I HAD to use the straightener to help style my hair in order to conceal the frizziness. It was a deadly cycle for my hair but eventually I got to a point where I experienced a lot of thinning and hair fall (that is what too much heat will eventually do to your hair!). Which is why I stopped using the straightener completely.

It’s been more than 2 years since I last picked up a straightener and boy do I feel free! I no longer feel dependent on the iron to help style my hair. I have never before dyed my hair so I can’t relate with people who have previously bleached their hair. However, I do know that continuing to dye or iron hair will just make things worse. You’re just looping this deadly cycle for your hair. An alternative of dyeing hair is using wigs! Wigs are expensive, but so is your hair’s worth! Treat your hair with care because you wear your hair everyday! It will definitely be hard to quit the heat which is why step 3 comes to help.

Step 3: Heatless/Protective Hairstyles!

This one is probably the easiest step since it doesn’t require any suffering on your part (haha). After I quit the heat, I needed to conceal my dry ends which is why I put my hair into frequent heatless hairstyles. After quitting the heat, try implementing some protective hairstyles for a couple months to regain your hair’s health!

Heatless/Protective Hairstyles I wear during the day:

  • Dutch braid
  • Side dutch braid
  • Side braid
  • Loose bun
  • 5 Strand Braid
  • Fish tail Braid
  • Loose ponytail
  • Braid bun

Protective Hairstyles I wear at night (It is crucial to wear protective hairstyles at night to avoid pulling on your hair or causing friction while you sleep):

  • Side braid
  • Loose bun

Step 4: Oils Are Your Best Friend! Oils are definitely one of my favorite parts of any haircare routine because they are so effective and beneficial for your hair’s health. Probably one of the most important parts of your haircare routine. If you don’t use a daily oil, you’re missing out! Having a daily oil in your haircare routine will give you shiny, hydrated, and healthy hair along with helping to thicken, strengthen, and grow your hair faster! Oils help to give health back to hair, maintain health, and gives that ‘healthy’ look within your hair! Some daily oils I use:

  • TheInnateLife Rose Hair Elixir (my holy grail!)
  • Coconut oil
  • Olive oil
  • Avocado oil

How I use oils in my daily haircare routine:

  • Everyday: I apply a couple drops just to the ends of my hair to give more shine and health.
  • Before taking a shower: I massage oils into my scalp and hair, leave on for 2 hours/overnight, and rinse off in the shower. This will help thicken and grow hair faster!

Some of the best oils are found in your kitchen!

Step 5: Daily Trims (It’s not what you think)! Wait, wasn’t this already mentioned in step 1? Yes, but wouldn’t it be awesome to get trims without losing the long length of your hair? Well now you can, with these following hair hacks of how to properly trim hair without getting rid of hair length!

Hair hack #1: Twist the ends of your hair and cut any flyaways or visible split ends.

Hair hack #2: Bend the ends of your hair to cut the flyaways and dead ends.

Follow these 5 steps and you will start to see your hair look healthier!
